Using a custom built software solution, you can perform backups of individual machines, networked machines and laptops as regularly as you want. The data is first compressed and encrypted on your machine, then sent to server facilities at 2 separate UK locations.

Requirements

The client software is based on the Java development language which is compatible with most operating systems and has been successfully tested with the following operating systems: Linux, Windows 2000/XP and Mac OS X. Use of the Java system means that the software should run under any flavour of Linux/Unix or Windows system.

The software communicates with the server through HTTPS over TCP/IP. Any connection to the Internet that supports this protocol is therefore required. For performance reasons and to get the full benefit of the software, we recommend the use of at least an ADSL 512kbit/s connection.

All data sent to and from the backup servers is transmitted using SSL (secure socket layer) technology with the HTTPS protocol. The data is encrypted prior to transmission using a 128-bit encryption algorithm with optional client authentication. On initial registration you are supplied with a unique authentication password which identifies you to the backup servers. Once your data has arrived at our servers, it is stored in a compressed and encrypted form.

Price Breakdown

Example:
Client 1 has 5 PC's and an Application Server. All 5 PC's store their files locally. The backup client is installed on each PC and a backup of all files is automatically processed on a daily basis. Each PC is allocated 1GB of backup space. The application server also has the client installed and is allocated 2GB of backup space. A total of 7 GB's of storage space is allocated.

The monthly fee will vary based on how much space you use e.g. the initial threshold up to 1GB is charged at £10 per month, once this has been exceeded the monthly payment will increase by £5 per additional GB e.g. up to 2GB is £15 per month, 3GB is £20 per month and so on.

Please note that data volumes refer to the compressed volumes actually stored on our servers, and not the total data volume stored on your local disks. A combination of various office-type documents should compress to about 70-80% of their original size, although the actual compression ratio could be better or worse than this depending on the exact nature of the data.
